60% of the living room space in our new apartment has no lighting in it. The ceiling is textured, painted cement and we aren’t allowed to screw into it. We can screw into the walls. We owned two of these IKEA pendant lights before (plug in, not hardwired), they probably weight about 8-10lbs each all in. We tried hanging with an off-brand “heavy duty” adhesive hook from Amazon and it fell right down in about 12 hours—I don’t think it adhered to the textured ceiling well. Any ideas for how we could hang these?

Notes: we can screw into the walls, and we’d want them hung pretty close to the ceiling to avoid them hanging well below head height. Would be willing to buy something, and if there’s no way to get these up safely, we’d be open to using something else entirely that doesn’t take up too much floor space.

Why can you screw in a small hook and then fill the hole when you move out?
