Acquired this bottle as part of a mixed case some years ago. Stored in a high quality amateur cellar.
Rhône-style blend from Paso Robles with Zinfandel, Mourvèdre, and Grenache.
Color is a nice purple, even at this age. A nice surprise. Aroma of red fruits. Taste of dried cherry with mid-range finish (not too long, but nice and smooth).
Paired with a rotisserie chicken and root vegetables.
I’m an amateur, but this is much better than Wine Enthusiast’s hammering review from 2012 where they have it an 81 (!). I have never had a wine with such a low score before so I looked up the definition: an “Acceptable” score “can be employed in casual, less-critical circumstances”.
The winemaker should appeal the critic’s decision as it may have improved with age into a fine QPR that I enjoyed with dinner and will continue with watching basketball.

omg this is why i never trust those fancy wine reviews.. sometimes your own taste buds know better than the “experts” 🍷.
