Won this bottle off auction and knew nothing about the winery.
They're apparently in Knights Valley and run a winery today with primarily estate grown fruit, but used to bottle a Beckstoffer To Kalon from 2008-2013.
2011 was a difficult vintage, but good winemakers navigated it and made good wine. This is one of those.
Gave it about an hour in the decanter before enjoying, since first sip was still tight.
Surprisingly fantastic wine.
Dark cherry, dark plum, blackberry, graphite, eucalyptus, some dark chocolate notes.
Really balanced wine. 15% ABV but doesn't taste hot at all.
I have two more bottles remaining and am eager to try them.
Paired well with Mott 32 in Vancouver.
92 points.
