The first rug is currently in my dining room. I love the second and want to put it in my living room (furniture is all neutral colours) but I think the two clash. My dining room is a direct sight line from the living room so you’d be seeing both rugs at the same time. I’d love a nice ivory rug, but I have two big dirty dogs so it would need to have some type of pattern to camouflage muddy paw prints.

I wouldn’t say they clash, but it violates one of my favourite aesthetic rules:

**Same or different can look good together, but never try to match with “*almost* the same”**

The colour palettes are just too similar, even though the look is very different (muted vs. bright).

Maybe it’s not as bad as obviously clashing, but even without seeing your space, I think it’s highly unlikely that these two rugs will look good together, and you probably have a better option for a second rug that will tie the place together.
