I'm buying a home that's been beautifully renovated, but not quite in my style. I don't want to make any major changes except painting the walls, if possible. I'm looking to make it feel a little bit more cozy and lived-in.

The irony is it probably looked more like pic 2 before the renovation. I suppose you could strip the blue paint off the cabinets and put some white tiles up instead of the darker backsplash. Fairly big undertaking though with the cabinets.

Focus on adding “clutter” like colorful jars, maybe a pot plant, some cookbooks. Add more warmth by finding some wooden things to accent with, like those small wooden cutting boards people put on their counters. I think a visible and beautiful spice rack would add A LOT to the look. Also some nice kitchen towels that fit the aesthetic. Recently, I got a cooking utensil holder for my counter, and hand painted onto it. It holds my wooden spoons (not plastic), very pretty!

That kitchen has a lot of open/exposed cabinets and shelves, lots of wood, lots of patterns and colors. Try to lean into that basically.

I don’t know how the lights look at night, but make sure you have some warmer ones to add to the cozy vibe. Maybe have a lamp instead of the big light, if it’s just a casual evening.

And if you’re not opposed to it, you could maybe paint a couple tiny sunflowers or something onto each drawer/cabinet. In the middle or on either side of the handles. And replacing the hardware could be pretty inexpensive. Find some gorgeous handles to go on your cabinets since they’re a bit boring right now

Are the cabinet doors actually hardwood or mdf?

I think you could get a yellow fridge to help the blue kitchen feel more cozy. But I do think just moving your stuff in will help a lot, too. This isn’t a super sleek color scheme, it’s got a fair bit of personality already.

Definitely add some small shelves to the left of the cabinets.

Maybe paint the walls if it’s bothering you after a month.

I think you just need more cozy stuff. An ivy, cute cookie jar, colorful cooking utensils and a spice rack near the stove, towels, a kitchen runner etc.

Change the lights and the cabinet hardware.

Have someone make you some scalloped wood pieces, paint them to match and put them under or over some of the cabinets. Paint the backsplash white or replace with something kitschy then add lots of plants, curtains and colorful decor.
“At Home with Ashley” on IG might match your vibe. She has a lot of cute DIY.
