Hi, I’ve looking to replace both my couch and area rug!!! Most of my furniture was purchased secondhand or free so these are big purchases. I’ve had this combo saved for the past few months because I love how cozy and welcoming it is but the longer I look at it the more I worry that the colors are too dark and similar. The room gets a lot of natural light but I don’t want my furniture to fight against that. Would these pair well together or would I be better off with a cream couch or a lighter rug? Second pic is a collage I made with items I plan to include in the living room.

I think these work together, but without seeing them in context it is giving: MAN. Like, “I’m a dude and these two things kind of look like they might work together.” I dunno, maybe that’s too harsh. You know what? If you like it, it’s your place and you should do it.

Looks like it would work well. I especially love the rug, coffee table and couch. Since you have a lot of natural light, those items will ground the space nicely. Although it’s hard to imagine how the wall decor will fit in. As long as your space is filled with things you love, that’s most important!!
