Brand new to this space and would appreciate feedback on our main bedroom. The shutters on the windows are really lovely, but oddly spaced. To make it more even, do I add curtains to hide the uneveness? How can I add some more symmetry to the space, or do I not?

To me, the answer is always yes to curtains. Even if you don’t intend on closing them. They add so much warmth to a room. Are you not able to center your bed under the window its currently in front of?

  2. No curtains with those awesome shutters! Enjoy the simplicity.

Add wall decor for more interest and color.

We put up floor to ceiling blackout curtains in our room when our kids were newborns for practical reasons.

Our room feels so much more luxurious and put together to me since we did that.

ETA you can fake symmetry with curtains by extending them beyond the window so the curtains are centered on your wall. This works especially well if you intend to mostly keep them closed.

From a feng shui standpoint, it’s best not to have the back of your bed to a window while sleeping because it makes you feel vulnerable, but if it’s unavoidable, then curtains and/or a headboard can give you better sense of security and privacy. So I would vote yes on curtains.

I think it looks nice and summery with just the shutters. If it’s cold in the winter you might want to add drapes then.
