Where to put a salt lamp without ruining your stuff?

I might be missing a trick here, but I had this salt lamp on my book shelf earlier this year but it leaked onto my books and now I have it on a tray but it’s ruining the tray. I don’t want to put it on something ugly but it keeps ruining my nice things…. Any tips?
