What kind of options do I have in place of these runners (which, to me, look messy) as a renter? It gets gross during the winter with boots, especially. I’m imagining a higher quality version of this kind of rug, one sheet, where I can cut it to size if I take dimensions of the floor? Maybe secure it to the floor with rug tape and to the edges of the trim? Suggestions welcome.

Is there a reason you couldn’t get 1 long runner instead of these multiple pieces ?
A lot of carpet/flooring places will cut a piece of carpet for you and bind the edges so it’s a rug
