I’m in the market for a new comforter or duvet cover and could use some advice. My husband strongly prefers a single solid color, while I tend to gravitate toward prints and patterns. I’m willing to give solids a shot to make him happy, but my pattern-loving brain needs a little help making it feel interesting.
Our bedroom walls are Benjamin Moore River Blue, which shifts quite a bit depending on the light during the day. The trim is white, and our headboard and nightstands are espresso. We also have a chocolate lab, so white bedding isn’t really my first choice for obvious reasons.
My questions:
What color would you recommend for a comforter/duvet cover that would work well with River Blue walls and espresso furniture?
Are there any fabric textures I should look for that could add visual interest and work well with our curtains, something that might help satisfy my pattern needing brain even though the bedding would be a solid color?
I’m hoping texture might be the compromise that keeps the room from feeling flat while still sticking to a solid color. Thanks for any ideas!

I would go with grey comforter to coordinate with the curtains and patterned pillow sheets, throw pillows or a throw blanket. Those items I would look to bring in extra color like mustard and/or pumpkin.
Or get a mustard comforter and still bring in pattern with the pillows.
