Been on a journey to find affordable Napa that isn’t plush juice bomb manufactured crap. No offense to those who like it but these heavy residual sugar, fruit forward wines with no acidity but it’s really not my thing.

I’ve had some high end oakville (cardinale) and other standouts like mayacamas that make me believe in Napa but long been annoyed that it’s either insanely expensive or heavily disappointed.

Anyways – I had a bottle of Kirkland Oakville cab and was so pleasantly surprised that I knew it was within reach.

Enter BV. Did not have high expectations, got it for $40, thought I’d give it a try. While it’s not a memorable wine – it is very well balanced. Young still but opened up nicely after an hour or so. More fruit on the nose than in the palate, classic Cabernet with old world DNA. Nice tannins, not sure if true Rutherford dust, but felt balanced. Drinks better a little cool to balance the alcohol. No noticeable sweetness, enough acidity to make it all work. Thought it was a great weeknight cab that brings back hope in affordable Napa.
