Wine tasting in Mormoiron last Friday to meet Charles, winemaker at Leschancel estate, well-kown winery in the Ventoux region (not so far from Carpentras).
Charles just launched his own brand "La Persévérance" from vintage 2023 with 4 cuvées (only 3 available to date):
- La Cointe, 100% chenin (rare in that region), aged on lees during 11 months in big oak barrels
- Aux Pierres, 100% carignan blanc, aged on lees during 11 months in big oak barrels
- Sauzade, 100% grenache noir, aged in big oak barrels during 18 months, north-facing vins exposure (70 yo vines)
Incredible freshness and length in those wines, right balanced. Still young project but already a lot of potential and the environment of working is wonderful. Cheers
