Wow. At 32 years old, this is holding up in a way that stops you in your tracks. You’re always rolling the dice with an older bottle like this, and wines like this remind you why it’s worth the gamble. Silky smooth mouthfeel, dark fruits still hanging in there but beautifully transitioned into tertiary territory — leather, earth, graphite, a hint of minerality. A real testament to what the best Napa Cabs can do with age. Proof that they can go the distance just like a great Bordeaux. Always have some concern buying aged wines, but definitely have been happy with my purchases from Benchmark, where I’ve had way more hits than misses.
