The very last pic is a inspo pic from chat, and I just can’t make it work. I can’t find art quite that large (that I’m willing to pay the cost of). Also my mantle is only 8 inches deep, which doesn’t allow for much layering, like books certainly don’t fit.
I have tried countless vases, and countless stems. Is it the stems? Is it the vases? Something off with scale? Maybe I shouldn’t do tall stems since the art is tall? No stems at all? I can’t find anything at all for the right side. I’m just at a loss and want to be done.
At this point, do I scrap everything and throw up a large decorative mirror and some candles? Smaller art and layer two? Pottery with NO stems? Regardless I’m chasing this chat mockup which just cant happen and not sure how to refocus my energy!

You need to center the art.
Keep working the problem.
You’re very close when you have the art centered, the big vase on the left and the small vase on the right. You just need to add the stack of books, the bowl, and the candle and you’ll be there.
Also, no shame (I have four kids so I get it), but part of the reason is looks off is there is a bright red child’s toy under the fireplace. Can you move that to another room?
does not match I don’t know why. Nothing matches. Fireplace is kinda tiny and tight, all of these decorative pieces are big and bulky, it clashes
I think you’re doing fine. Are these actual paintings you own, because I personally like the way the darker, smaller one looks. Are you planning on hanging the painting or just leaning it?
I think it’s the art work. It’s basically a copy of the fireplace and mantle below it (same colors). I think something more interesting would draw the eye and provide a better focal point.
