Delicious – decanted and tried over three hours. By the third hour it was the best.
First tasting (only a little on opening) was very leathery and intensely oaky, not much fruit. As the night went on, the fruit came out, blackberry and violet mixed with a hint of vanilla (only the tiniest!) and smoother oak. Tobacco and oak stays on the nose throughout. It is smooth an acidic but mellows over time.
Had it with lamb shanks in a red wine and tomato sauce with rosemary, bay, cinnamon and paprika. Unreal.

Not a critique, but why are y’all so impatient with your bottles?
A 2019 Batailley is probably best 10-15 years from now.
