has anyone tried Domaine Joseph Roty Gevrey-Chambertin? More like Gevrey-Shamblestin. £100 a bottle and so disappointing I was actually a little upset with Corney & Barrow from whom I buy a lot and sold it to me. How do I stop over paying for burgundy? I have tried california and even then it can be hit and miss.

  1. I concur with that statement about Roty. I’m often underwhelmed or just disappointed

    lol 100$, ‘overpaying’ for burgundy…

No actual tasting notes, with a bunch of current vintage village tier wines what were you expecting?

You’re missing a few zeros in the price to be ‘overpaying’ for burgundy.

2020 is likely the worst vintage for current drinking. 21s might at least offer a little pleasure. Which one did you open?

Agreed, very mediocre producer. Francois Carillon is alright though.
On a sidenote – whose stemware is that? Looks like something my grandmother would use for an afternoon port

  5. Iam gettin downvoted but chasing burgundy style wines in cali (which is also expensive af) is not the right way imho.
How about some German Pinots as Kirschgarten gg from Phillip Kuhn (Pfalz), Grünhaus abtsberg Pinot 1g (mosel) or Huber alte Reben (Baden).
Excellent wines with great terroir expression.
    Around 50€ each
