I’m really wanting to like this wine, but just can’t get past the overwhelming funk on the nose. I’ve left an open glass for over 3 hours now, and the funk is still strong. It tastes so much better than it smells (despite the fact that taste and smell are intricately linked). I’ve looked through all the reviews on Cellar Tracker and don’t see much mention of funk. Is it possible I just got a bad bottle? Could the cork be at fault (it didn’t appear defective in any way).

Strong nose of barnyard funk (Brett?) overwhelms all other aromas.

On the palate, red fruits, especially plums.

My suspicion is that I just have a defective bottle and this is a really good wine.
