Fun little $15 wine today. Underrated grape variety from a VERY underrated AVA in Upstate New York.
Light and fresh, but with interesting aromas. Bright citrus fruits, a spicy pine-like note, and a very distinct toasted sesame seed aroma. The sesame note is really cool. I’ve only found it in a couple other wines.
It’s a bit more straightforward on the palate. Fresh citrus fruits, with some mineral notes. It also feels a bit sticky in the finish, almost like it has elevated tannins, but it’s not a skin contact wine and it’s unoaked so I might just be tweaking.
If you’ve been getting bored of Sauvignon Blanc, this is something to look for! The crisp, light profile is there, but with a more unique personality.

Love everything I’ve had from Dr. K. Will be passing through the area in a few months. Hope to track down a bottle or two of their Grüner Veltliner
