Haven’t had Chateauneuf in a hot minute. Drinking this with mom tonight! Double decanted.
Pretty fucking awesome nose, honestly. Complex. Dark fruits, but with the garrigue, smoky pepper, and some oaky spices underneath. It’s pretty savory and interesting smelling already.
The palate is definitely young and underdeveloped. Nowhere near as interesting at the nose. Big, ripe dark fruits and oaky/spicy flavors in the finish. Full-bodied. A bit lacking in acid, as CdP can be, but the tannins are pretty strong even a couple hours after being double decanted.
For those of you who have this wine, it’s gonna be a grower. The nose is bound to get even more interesting and the palate has the structure to age well.

I grabbed a bottle of their blanc for a tasting tomorrow, very excited to try it.
