My wife was trying to open the bottle and somehow it got all messed up. Any idea how to get the cork out?

    Just put the corkscrew back in (carefully, but firmly) and it will probably be fine

    Try again with a corkscrew. Just go all the way through the cork and pull it out. Looks like a clean break so I doubt you’ll have an issue with parts of it falling in.
