No that white gate isn't permanent, and will be removed soon. We just had a baby and are slowly introducing her to our family dog, but we need to be cautious.
As you can see our living room has a big arch, and we wish to close it off so we can install an AC. We thought about getting curtains, but we're not sure if thats the best bet. Plus, will they have to be wall to wall? We're not interested in getting a door installed, that wouldn't look good
The room is 410cm wide, the arch is 210cm.

My first thought was curtains too, not sure if youd need wall to wall though. You could always start with just covering the arch and add more later if you do want wall to wall.
You could also look into privacy screens, but with the arch it might not keep the air from the AC in the room as well. Maybe there are arched privacy screens 🤔
Is that bottom mini wall adjustable? or is it part of the wall too?
This arch is the perfect template for a skilled window glazier to install a wall of glass with a door…as long as money is not a consideration for you 😂 it would be lovely.
