I need to work on my photography production.
This wine is garnet/orange around the rim and a light ruby at its core
Nose: pine needles, violets, sassafras, cinnamon, anise, black licorice, raisins. Sometimes the wine’s combined aromas reminded me of Good & Plenty candy. Awesome nose! May have enjoyed smelling it more than sipping it, and I really liked sipping it.
Palate: Started off a bit concentrated and compressed in the fruit department. With fresh minerality and acidity, black tea earthiness, and plenty of grippy tannins. Lots of potential and a full bodied wine. I was afraid of it being too alcoholic. Once the fruit opened/ripened up, all the components harmonized.
-Notes of black licorice, cinnamon, cherries, ripe plums, figs, raisins, a bit of cola, and mushroom
-Lots of depth and complexity to this wine.
-60+ second finish.
First glass lasted me a couple hours because of how much I enjoyed smelling this wine and following its evolution.
Perhaps I could’ve kept this laid down for a few more years to let the tannins soften up some more. Although, some tertiary notes, particularly on the nose, became more prevalent; like mushroom and umami flavors.
