Pleasant! Drinking well. Nice to find in UA Polaris business class. They’ve been doing great stuff but California, California, California…..
Fair warning: by no means a professional.
Nose: off the bat, a little alcohol forward. Not the best start. Air helped a tad. A little cherry, twigs (not green), pomegranate. A little strawberry, but very fresh. Sweeter side of things. Less floral than expected.
Palette: nice light body. Very impressed with the gentle yet firm tannins, high acidity, nicely refined. A little pomegranate/red fruit here too, and happy to not see any over-done sweetness. Maybe that’s why I can’t find much strawberry. Stellar finish for the price ($30ish). A touch of salinity if I think about it hard enough. Typical Cote du Rhône but not at all in a bad way. A great example of a possibly ordinary wine, and I think great value. Drinks well at altitude. Will come back in a few years and see if we get anything else interesting with the other bottles I got.
