So here is what I have so far. I do need a new couch and media stand. If anyone has suggestions on what kind of couch or media stand would go well let me know. But what else am I missing? Please note the mirror we still have to hang so it’s just temporarily on the ground!

This is really cute so far. I love those chairs and the rug. I would move the couch and upholstered chairs more onto the rug. Depending on what couch you get, you may want to have it where the two chairs are and then one chair on each side of the coffee table. I’d look into a larger coffee table and maybe find a different spot for the leather chair. I think a vintage MCM walnut or teak credenza or cabinet that’s long and low profile would work well. Definitely make sure it’s longer than the tv.

Would a larger sofa fit instead of the 2 armchairs and the armchairs under the window? They are lovely! I don’t know about the dark red carpet… yes larger tv stand, natural wood, definitely should be longer than the tv.

You have no art or anything of interest on the wall where your TV is. Even hanging your guitar or something on the wall would give it some interest.

IMO you have too many clashing colors and styles right now. The red rug doesn’t go with anything. There’s nothing else with this color anywhere in the room. The angles of the ceiling, ceiling fan, black chair, coffee table, shelf behind the matching chairs and TV stand are all modern in style. The matching chairs, sofa, drapes, and most of your decor items are more ornate and traditional.

Some mixing can work, but there has to be a base of one or the other sprinkled with accents or anomalies of the other. If it’s 50/50 it’s just a confusing mix.

With that in mind, pick what you like the most and work toward getting the rest of the room to match. Also, as you’re work8ng in that direction, work from a color pallette. If you like the red rug, find items that match it like sofa pillows, throw blankets, a painting or poster.

I’d also rearrange a bit by putting the sofa where the matching chairs are and putting one chair on either side of the sofa.
