Found this bottle cleaning out the in-laws basement. It was gifted to them back in 1975. Any idea if it’s worth anything?

No one will buy it but it might be good drinking.

Mmmm, 50 year old basement wine, my favourite!! I’ll give $25

Don’t know if it’s just the angle of the photo, but it looks like there is significant evaporation within the bottle— not great.

Maybe it’s just a bad angle?

Without provenance (meaning proof that it has been stored well), it is unlikely to be sellable. Which is a bummer because 1975 is a significant year for me and I’d be tempted. 😁

I’d say ask AI for some tasting suggestions and pop that bad boy open!

Not knowing much about champagne but it says Moet e Chandon, not Dom Perignon??

I had the 1985 recently and it was okay but not great. Still super effervescent but a bit oxidized. Kind of dusty, sweet honey, wet basement vibes. Still very cool to drink champagne that old though.

Get naked, pop that bad boy, and spend a fine evening domming your perignon.

Seriously just chill it and drink it, you won’t make much if anything selling it and in many states it’s not legal to sell without a license.

WOW! This came out of an AI response: *The 1975 Dom Pérignon is a highly regarded, mature vintage Champagne, often noted for its remarkable balance, depth, and ability to age, with tasting notes highlighting aromas of honey, toasted nuts, and brioche, often compared to a mature Burgundy. It is a rare, collector’s item typically retailing between $500 and $2,000+, depending on the release (e.g., Œnothèque) and provenance.*
