Appreciate it's not fully decorated, we are not long moved in.

We have painted the walls a neutral colour and whitened up the fireplace and skirting boards. We have a cheap ikea wardrobe which we have painted over to give some personality and colour.
It just doesn't feel right to me as a room. Some days I think it's the colour of the walls, sometimes I think it's the colour of the wardrobe. I just can't figure out how to fix it.
Any ideas?

You have two mirrors, no contrast. Contrast can be texture not just colour- get some different textures in here and I would say only have the one mirror
It’s too monotone imo. White on white on light green on white, etc. Try switching up your bed linnens with a color you both like to see how it feels. Beyond that I think some art on the walls could do wonders, they feel a little bare and not exactly “homey” feeling right now.
Using the words “personality and colour” to describe this room is absolutely hilarious
Nothing matches, at all.
The bedding and the blinds clash with the wardrobe. I actually really like the wardrobe colour. So either get new bedding and blinds in a mint green or repaint the wardrobe a soft blue colour.
The fire surround doesn’t work blending in with the walls, it’s looks kinda weird, especially with the fire being black. It makes it look kinda stark.
The headboard doesn’t look right against the cream walls.
Personally I’d paint the walls a light colour instead of the white. There are so many different shades of white and cream in this room, but they all clash with one another and it just doesn’t look right at all.
I’d also move the full length mirror somewhere else because two mirrors next to each other is just weird.
You need some pictures on the walls too
I’m so sorry!
A lovely room with lots of potential. Love the light fixture, layout and wardrobes.
Now, you talk about personality and colour but e v e r y t h i n g but the mess on the wardrobes is white. You desperately need some contrast and texture.
Usual advice: add some wall art, curtains, plants. Change the bedside tables and vanity station for wooden furniture. Visit a second hand shop if you’re tight for cash. I also feel the two mirrors don’t really go together.
And the stuff on the wardrobes needs to be put away.
Good luck!
Ton of potential here, the room is
quite nice
Think about new flooring. Need to better understand the rest of your design in the home but various hardwoods would look great in here.
Swap the mirror above the fireplace for a painting, I suggest upgrading the wall mirror or removing it entirely, maybe put a long mirror inside one of the wardrobe doors
Add caned lights or flush mounts or even track lighting for architectural detail
Upgrading and adding color with the bedding might provide the contrast you’re looking for.
Overall, your canvas in this room is excellent, not a huge investment needed to get what you want
