Julien Renard is a young winemaker from the Mosel making very different wines than his region is most well known for. This unfiltered 100% Chardonnay started very closed, almost nothing on the nose with mostly Brett and VA on the palate, but that blew off in about 20 mins and revealed a wine with a combo of gummy peach like sweetness and a bracing acidity. Serious length and clean finish, I thoroughly enjoyed this wine and can’t wait to open his Riesling which I’ve also purchased
