Really unsure about this. I'm renting for the first time and want to make the space my own but unsure if I should hang two massive paintings facing each other (Size of Paintings, 23" x 18"). Both are of the sea (one's blue and the other is sunset-like light purple. Like in the photos) or stick with only one. I could also hang just one and on the opposite wall, hang some small floral or abstract paintings. Any suggestions welcome. The lounge is sparsely decorated with barely any ornaments etc at the moment. Sofas are black with rustic wooden tables.

The second looks a little retro, but it’s gorgeous. I would go for it! If you’re too worried about them matching, I think the second would look nice in a bedroom and it’s peaceful looking.

Do you mean directly opposite, like facing each other? I’d say no but just on 2 walls opposite each other, not a problem depending on distance. To me it’s more that the frame styles are so unalike. but it wouldn’t be impossible to make it work. Nothing to lose by trying!

Go for it. If it makes you happy, that’s the only thing that matters.

Maybe try to do a virtual mockup of the room see how it looks?

I find it hard to visualize just looking at the paintings.

Good art is never outdated. Trust your own taste, and go with it. Sounds like a good plan. As a painter, these are very nice paintings.

Do you know the artist on the first one? It looks identical to a reference I used in art class years ago. I love them both.
