My husband and I recently remodeled our bathroom and we’re getting ready to finish up the last steps of installing the toilet and picking out a countertop. Before we tiled the floor, we painted the walls Urbane Bronze by SW. i was hoping it would pull more brown in our room, but instead it looks more gray than I’d like. I mean, I like the color, but I wonder if everything is a bit too colorless and neutral.

I was wondering in you all had any ideas on how and where to add color into this room? Would you repaint, and if so, what color? Any other color palette or decor suggestions?

Thanks for your ideas!

There’s an opportunity for some more color in the shower curtain I prefer white. What’s the wood over the shower drain for?

I like the color, but I think you’re worried it’s too stark – and maybe it is especially on the window wall. I would add chair rail, wainscoting, and picture frame trim, starting 3” or so above the height of the window sill and going down. Paint all that a semigloss muted hunter or fern tinted green, which would work really nicely with the colors you have.

I think that it’s really pretty the way it is

  4. i love it!! but if you did want to change it i would go with a deep dark forest green to keep the dark cozy vibes. so beautiful!

I think this is absolutely amazing. I love the colors.

The walls look good. If you are looking for a change, you could put a color on the ceiling. (I don’t think it needs it, but most people don’t consider it)

I would change the paint on the window trim and maybe the heater

I like the current wall colour. You could try a darker green if you want the wood to pop out more.

I think it’s pretty from the photos.

Phone photos suck for conveying what a color actually looks like though. I recommend bringing people whose opinion you trust into the room and asking them.

  10. Clementinetimetine

I mean, yes, it’s colorless, but it’s also gorgeous.

  11. creepyinkbby

I like it but it would also look nice a dark green with the gold hardware

  12. lsp2005

I would pick a darker green. This color feels depressing with the lighting.

  13. daydrinkingonpatios

Is this your bathroom or a guest room? Is this where anyone applies makeup? It’s gorgeous but it looks really dark.

  14. MavenOfNothing

I like it, it is pretty. Not a fan of the color of the shower rod though.

  15. TensionTraditional36

A caramel colour. It’s really dark and would bring out the accent wood colours

I would change the trim color on the window. The way the wall and trim just blend together with the thick painted edges gives landlord special.

But ya something ain’t right about this color. It’s giving dark basement bathroom.

The wall with the towels hanging on it I would make white at least. Will make that nook feel more open. I’d repaint the window trim in something with some contrast or a gloss or other texture to make it slightly different from the walls.

    Where in the sink??

I did matte black with glitter added and I love it. Silver glitter in that paint would look amazing!

  18. annazabeth

if you want to change it, maybe something more saturated but it is so beautiful. I have really liked Behr Black Evergreen. this is more my preference but if the trim is a wood, stripping and staining to match the door would be very pretty

  19. Signal_Historian_408

I would. I love the mood but the color is dull. I agree w those who are saying dark green.

Personally I find it very attractive , love the flooring, and the wall color looks really good with your brass wall sconces, wood doors and cabinet(but where is your sink?!) .Before pulling out the paint brush and going through all the effort, there are a few things you could consider adding.

You may find playing around with different light bulbs will change up how the wall color appears to you. Keep in mind that clear glass shades can increase shadows and glare.

Some framed art , specifically smaller pieces with gold frames to tie in with your other brass /gold fixtures. So, a small one above the hand towel/bath towel hooks , or one or two above the toilet, for instance.

Even though the window is frosted, a bamboo blind would tie in with your other wood elements and add a bit of detail on that wall. Or a simple roman shade in an understated print would also work.

I do love the white towels in there, they look super…and perhaps you are not keen to change them. However IF you are open to bringing in more colors and detailing, consider a Turkish type towel that has texture, or a rusty golden color, similar to your wood elements, or something in the olive green range if you like a more understated color.

Lastly, a taller more dramatic plant on your vanity might also change things up a bit.

We had that same color and we played with adding details in greys and greens to find which worked with the light to have it pull more earthy. For us it was some charcoal towels and art that, in contrast, made it look absolutely not grey.

  22. Runns_withScissors

I’d do something to add some contrast in there. Love Urbane Bronze so much; it simply doesn’t come across well in that space. I’d try a green, as others have suggested. You’d keep the same vibe but add more contrast with the floors. It’s a gorgeous space, and you’ve done an amazing job!

  23. Bunny_girly58

I think if you stick with the warm lighting it looks cozy but the white/blue lighting makes the colors look way too harsh and uninviting in my opinion

  24. RipCommon2394

I think you just need a brighter light. The paint makes the room elegant, but it does also make the room feel very dark.

  25. realistic_Gingersnap

No but I’d change the molding around the window

  26. saymimi

painting the window trim a different color would draw your eye and make the space appear even larger, more interest

  27. sillilillipilli

I think it’s the lighting that’s throwing me off. In a darker room like this I tend to prefer a softer warm white like you have in the shower rather than the more yellow lights you have over the vanity.

  28. yellowdoor343

Great color, but if the room is too dark, go a few shades lighter. Personally, it is cool.

  29. shortifiable

I love the moody vibe but would go with a deep green instead.

  30. TacoPartyGalore

That’s exactly what I would paint it. Please don’t change (it until dark colors go out of style of course)

  31. Alternative-Fox-6511

I love everything about this bathroom

  32. Careless_Toe8692

I love it. I would just paint the ceiling the same color as well

  33. Scorpio_Goddess87

If you do, I’d keep it dark.. maybe a jewel toned teal or deep forest green. Anything dark, rich, saturated.

  34. katycolleenj

No, that color is great! I think adding more plants and other pops of green would look really nice!

  35. Dapper_Ad_8402

NOOOOO. but i am a moody bitch so i love this color.

  36. Beautiful-Wish-8916

Trim of window can be reverted to white

  37. Haskap_2010

Something lighter and brighter would make the wood on the vanity stand out more. Terra cotta, slate, or moss green perhaps.
