A Boire ‘Bicicuma’ 2022; for $28, this wine was bangin. Reminds of the Matassa Olla Blanc, but a bit more wild, tropical fruit on the palette. Believe it’s muscat & chasselas. We sucked this bottle down fast.
Dominique Derain ‘Entre Peaux’, another banger at $33. The wine also punches high above its price point. A new favorite. Oddly enough, was described to me as a “baby matassa” and it did remind me a lot of the cuvee margeurite.
Mosse ‘Cuvee Wildair’ 2022; This is the cuvee that Mosse makes for Wildair in NYC. Definition of glou glou. Not overly complex, but very easy to drink. Heavy dragonfruit/pineapple notes. Nice acidity. loonnggg finish. Keeps ya coming back for more.
Jean Yves-Peron ‘Maison Rouge’ 2020; maybe my favorite of the Peron wine’s i’ve tried (other than cotillon des dames). Straight up pomegranate juice. Could drink this all day.
Matassa ‘Tattouine Rouge’ 2022; can’t remember the tasting notes too well but remember thinking “fuck this is delicious”, and “wow this color!” as i do with all of Tom’s wines.
Henri Chauvet Cotes D’auvergne ‘Froussard’ 2022; pretty sure this is a chardonnay from Loire. And definitely the best chardonnay i’ve had (haven’t had many). Really think I needed to pair this with some fresh seafood or an aggressive cheese for it to really sing though. very crisp and juicy. classic pear/apple notes.
Jean Yves-Peron ‘La Petite Robe’ 2021; wasn’t crazy about this one from Jean. Maybe I didn’t get the best bottle. Crazy high acidity, bordering on sour beer. A bit floral on the nose and a bit of spice on the palette. Not a ton of complexity after that. I think this is 100% jacquere
La Marotte ‘Bombinette’ 2022; this was a fun delicious red, 100% carignan, slightly carbonic. loads of red fruit on the palette. great value honestly, right around $30. a crowd pleaser for your friends that are scared of natural reds
Laureano Serres ‘Abeurador 1’ 2022; wow this was an exciting bottle of wine! lots of stone fruit/citrus on the nose with a little bit of barnyard funk. Goes down easy, really opens up over time, last glass is better than the first. Incredible value at $29
Maupertuis ‘La Plage’ 2022; fucking yummmm. Gamay from Auvergne. Juicy but light. Lots of plum and raspberry. Great chilled. smashed the whole bottle myself.
Remi Pujol ‘Le Temps Fait Tout’ Blanc 2021; a wonderful, affordable white wine from Languedoc. So crisp. Aromas of pear and elderflower. Great minerality. incredible value ($24)
Andrea Calek ‘Blonde’ 2022; a delicious, juicy, effervescent sparkling red from Andrea Calek. Partial to the “A tois nous” (which has been tasting great this year) but this was also really delicious. Cant seem to go wrong with any of his wines.
