Looks nice, but do you have a plan for keeping the cushions clean/white?

It looks so inviting! And compared to the “before” pic, it’s really a transformation!

  3. Big improvement, but not something for me. That’s not a garden, but a patio.

Love it! Very zen (says this laymen.). Any way to remove that brick wall on the left? I like the way the grass and gravel on the right meet.

    Kudos!

Omg i have so many questions as a renter of a crummy backyard in Brooklyn.

Do you rent or own this space?

What astro turf is that? All the decent stuff I’ve found is so expensive.

The rocks in the back, what are the details on those?

Thanks so much in advance, the space looks great!

  6. Did you build those chairs or purchase them?

Aye yo, I’m fuckin’ relaxin’ ova here!

Looks great! Where does the ladder in the back lead to? Also (and please don’t take this as a criticism) why did you make a large walkway on the right and not expand the sitting area so you can include either a coffee table or portable fire pit?

Turned out really well but out of curiosity why invest your money into something you don’t own? As a renter are you concerned they will ask you to get rid of these thing when you leave? I also rent but have always been apprehensive about changing things because it’s not mine and I’ll either have to fix it or be adding value to something I’m already paying more then I should for hahaha. Thanks and it looks great

Is that a ladder in the back going into the tree?

Looks great and super low maintenance! Now you get to actually enjoy it.

FYI you’ve got a bunch of Tree of Heaven. It’s an invasive and also a preferred host for spotted lantern fly.

Did you build the deck too? So beautiful!

It’s beautiful. But what about when it rains? How do you get this sofa out of the rain?

Very tasteful. Love the gravel around the base of the trees

As sad as NY backyards go, this is a fuckin gem. Well done!

I don’t like how it goes from grass to gravel right there under the brick. It feels unbalanced. It should be grass on right with the gravel left and path middle. Or, the raised section on both sides. Also, I’m not sure if it’s the camera but the fence looks like it’s black and I’m not a fan in this setting. I’d prefer earthier toned gravel too. I’d give it a 6.5/10.

    Why?

Those raised beds could have been used for flowers, berries or other fruits and vegetables. You picked rocks to fill up your little green spot in a big city full of concrete. If you don’t like it outside, get a place without a garden.

Straighten those tiles my ocd can’t 🤣

    Nice patio/back nonetheless

What’s up with all these rocks and with that small depressing patch of stubble grass instead of like some actual plants, flowers, maybe veggies or herbs? This looks artificial and depressing AF and not like a space to feel relaxed in…

That’s a solid face lift! Good job! I’ve been in the same position of reno-ing a landlord’s outdoor space too. Honestly, the cost and effort pays off in spades even though it’s not your property.

A couple suggestions to build on your good work:

    – Add an art piece/sculpture or a plant in the empty section on the left there to add a bit of life into the space. Art piece doesn’t need to be fancy, can even be DIY (like an old school bike for free). Plant would depend on the amount of light – a palm would give the place a more upbeat summer vibe, while while something low like a mugo pine can be pruned into a bonsai shape for a zen vibe. Both can be in pots. A black pot with something tall and colourful like a canna or Ti plant would look killer.

    – uplight those two big trees! (DM me for suggestions if interested) If you can’t swing that, go with cafe-style string lights down the right fence line.

    – small gas fire pit if you’re allowed

This looks so idyllic, it looks incredible!
