Buying a condo and I hate the kitchen. It looks dated and too dark to me but I’m curious what others think. Not sure if it’s worth the massive expense to redo the cabinets and countertop.

Outdated for sure. Backsplash can freshen things up. But it’s still an awesome kitchen and condo. Wanting what you have is better than having what you want.

I think it looks great.

The countertop looks great. Have *a painter* paint the cabinets. Don’t try to do it yourself. You’ll reduce the resale value of your home with a DIYed finish on the cabinets.

It’s your kitchen, not anyone else’s.

Your cabinets are honestly fine. They have a nice profile and simple look. If you wanted to brighten for a lower cost you could do a new backsplash and refinish the cabinets. It doesn’t feel dated to me, though the backsplash is hard to see with this resolution. But I’m in a different country and local styles vary.
A quick fix to update with less mess might be a new faucet. Something with an arched profile and maybe a pull down spray?
Personally my own dislike is for that style of appliance: the microwave exhaust and slide-in range. But it all looks fairly modern and cohesive.

I don’t see anything wrong with it, if in good condition then it becomes just a matter of taste and maybe not se expensive to change. They look to be shaker cabinet doors you can paint any color, countertop can be changed prices will depend on what you like, lots of options. Appliances are all stainless that I can see. Maybe it looks dark because the rest of the walls look plain white and a stark difference? What would YOUR dream kitchen be? given the same space, what’s on the other side by the fridge?

If you like the condo, good price, fair HOA (if there is such a thing), amenities, good neighborhood… I would move in and see if with all your stuff moved in, it might grow on you? If not then you can decide on what changes you want to make. The key is to make it something that functions for you, that you like. If you follow the trends of every year it will never be ‘updated’. I’m in the midst of a remodel, it was dark wood 70s kitchen, new one is white shaker with Fantasy Brown countertops and classic simple hardware in brushed nickel, stainless appliances and I splurged on a pot filler. I put LVT down in a warm wood because I have dogs and a husband, it’s a toss up who’s neater in the kitchen LOL. I’ve had two homes in the past with white kitchens when it wasn’t trendy and both sold quickly without a problem. Still don’t know what I’ll do with the backsplash, waiting for the countertop to be installed in 2 weeks from yesterday !! YAY My personal opinion is the kitchen is fine, nice clean, lines, nothing offensive or turnoffish to me. They still sell those cabinets so how outdated can it be?

Looks great, but if you want to open it up a bit, just paint the uppers in a lighter color, maybe white?

The cabinets could probably be refinished for pretty cheap. [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=svJfrtErnIE](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=svJfrtErnIE)
