Builder here. Pry up that MDF subfloor with the linoleum. Resub with 3/4 class t&g osb. Ring shank into the joists. You can thank me in five years when your cabinets are still level and your countertop isn’t cracked at the sink. Ask me how I know.

The house was built in 1934. All of the framing is old growth Oregon timber.
