We are trying to decide what to do on the walls with the windows. We are moving the range to where the blue scribble is, and will have cabinets and backsplash on both the left and right walls. We currently have granite 5″ lip that runs the perimeter, but have been told that is not in style anymore. I feel like a thin 6″ of backplash may look silly running along that wall and am not sure what to do where the red lines are. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I like it the way it is. As long as you have the backsplash over the range you are fine as far as utility goes and I feel the big window benefits from having the space open.

No. If the granite runs up the wall, you don’t do backsplash. It’s one or the other.

Iโd be tempted to do a modern take on a mission style tile on the entire wall. Nice kitchen!

There’s no law that says you have to have a backsplash. That kitchen is perfect and stunning as it is. Why create another focal point when the window is such a great one? You can always wipe a little tomato sauce off the wall once in awhile.

It looks like most new homes these days have the tile backsplash going all the way from countertop to ceiling. Here are some examples:
I think it would look fine to the bottom of the kitchen cabinets as well- especially if tile you select is going to be demure and not the Star of the room.

The only reason I recommend a backsplash is because in a kitchen walls get dirty. The backsplash let’s you keep it clean without wearing your paint down from cleaning. If your hesitant over picking something that would interfere with the overall feeling of the kitchen you can also pick a white ceramic.

I would definitely put tiling up. I’d also celebrate the fact that you’re living in a bloody Palace!

I LOVE backsplashes, but I honestly wouldn’t put one in in your case.
If you want a touch of detail or color, maybe some light, airy curtains/thin drapes for the smaller windows to break up the sharp squareness of their shape. Pair it was a delicate, intricate curtain rod.
