I think white cabinets will be around for awhile. But I think things are moving away from these rooms that almost look like a black and white picture. So warmer wood tones, taupes and more color and personality.
I think white in general is timeless. But it also looks dirty and shabby sooner. And these kind of pics bug me because in real life, there is always STUFF in the kitchen. With such a bland backdrop, do you really want the box of cereal, the canister of fiber supplement, or the junk mail to become the focal point for the whole room? If the room itself has some color and texture, then any clutter won’t automatically become the focal point.

White shaker cabinets are timeless. The rest of the “mono modern farmhouse” look will not age well and clearly date this image to 2018-2020. The dressings (hardware, lights, stools) can be switched up easily and cheaply in the future. The grey LVP flooring and waterfall countertop are going to be the hardest things to get away from – trendy but hard/expensive to change. The mix of metals (brass, black, white, stainless steel) is also grinding my gears… not sure if that’s a fashion thing.
This kitchen from this sub takes a very similar approach but feels more timeless to me (the line between boring and timeless being a matter of opinion): [https://www.reddit.com/r/kitchenporn/comments/odvd0l/island_with_room_to_grow/](https://www.reddit.com/r/kitchenporn/comments/odvd0l/island_with_room_to_grow/)

White (if kept clean) is elegant. Elegance is timeless

I like it for the most part, but I’d swap out either the white countertops and/or the white backsplash for something with some color or contrast.

I think white itself is timeless. Things like light fixtures and hardware can be changed out to freshen things up over time.

Are you still going to be living here in the years to come? if so, then it really doesn’t matter what will or won’t be popular if you dont love it 100%. Do you really want to step into your new kitchen and think “the next owners are going to love this” (hint: they probably dont have the exact same taste in finishes as you and will want to change things just as you are now) or do you want to step in and think “this room makes ME happy”
