  1. Color: deep orange with hints of red

Nose: light flowers, brioche, underripe cantaloupe, mustard seed, wet slate

Palate: body is rather rich, acidity is moderate plus, slight tannin and richness from the skin contact – a mix of papaya and pumpkin drying in the sun dominate, fading into a tart finish of lemon, watermelon rind, grapefruit, and straw

Actually quite compelling once it’s had some air. These Strohmeier wines are difficult to assess due to their glaring dissimilarity to practically every other wine I’ve encountered. These wines draw their strength from bitterness and acidity rather than power and raciness.

This wine has great texture and aromatic complexity, and I think could be enjoyed not only solo but also in a more traditional wine/food pairing with something like a salad of fresh veg and herbs or a nice autumnal tartlet or something.

Blah blah blah, get outside your comfort zone is the take away here.
