This place reminds me of a certain Oscar winning movie…

I just moved to Reno! Where is this library?!? I have to go!
ThirteenSeas
A few years ago my van broke down on our way to Burning Man. After the event we spent a few weeks in Reno waiting for repairs and spent some time in this library. Very cool. They even had a maker space on one of the levels.

Looks nice, but also feels like it would be really humid, which is about the last thing you’d want in a library…

I feel like a dinosaur is always lurking around one of those trees

My mom used to take me here in the afternoons. I loved it.

I legitimately can’t tell what decade this photo is from, it’s got that beautiful 70s architecture, the heavy nature scape inside, no visible tech to date it. I love it

Good

You could fall in love with an orangutan in there.

Put this in r/plants, they’ll go nuts!

I’ve been to that library. It must have changed in the last few years since I’ve been. Definitely none of those plants last time

Scrolling by I was like “we have one of these in my city too”. Read the title and it is my city, Reno. Biggest little city in the world. I would purposely go to this library just because it felt so peaceful.

You can’t even see the coolest part! I grew up in Reno, this place was so cool because there’s a giant floating island you can walk out onto. Downside is it’s a big hotspot for bums so you might see some weird things lol
Antigon0000
Do you think the books are moldy?
Tetragonos
Fuck! Fuck you Vegas be closer to Reno!
… My family LOVES vegas and I don’t like gambling so I don’t see the appeal. Why can’t Reno be like an hour outside of town?
LiveWire11C
There are “floating” platforms where you can read and a water feature/ pond/ moat type thing on the bottom floor too.

Where are the books?.. are they.. are they in the trees?

How do they keep all the plants alive and thriving with no direct sunlight?

This library alone makes me want to move to Reno!
dontfuckwmeiwillcry

MR_Weiner
Wow…I was in Reno for 4 days a month for like 5 years before covid, and this shows up in my feed *now*? Whyyyyyyy 😭

Looks like an overgrown mall. Really don’t like this at all. But I’m glad others do like it!

So close to hell that you can see Sparks

This is where I go to vote! It’s a great example of incorporating nature into an otherwise pretty mundane building.

Looks like an abandoned mall that has gained roof leaks and all the vegetation has started to take over.
