In the northwest corner, they left a patch dirty from when they did the huge renovation years ago. It was filthy because you used to be able to smoke in there.
I’m super happy Grand Central didn’t go the way of the old Penn station, the new one is hot garbage.

And right up there on the landing is the Apple Store.

I worked at that Apple Store for 5 years and I could never get tired of that view. I wonder what I am going to feel when I see it again for the first time in 3 years this summer

I was 17 on a school trip from the UK nearly 20 years ago when I saw this gorgeous ceiling. Stopped me in my tracks- I never knew it was painted like this before seeing it. Really good to see a photo of the whole space, looks really majestic

A big part of the story in Spider-Man on PS4/PS5/PC is at Grand Central [Terminal]. You get to zoom around in there as Spider-Man and beat up bad guys. Super fun.

Back in the 90s I was involved in insurance as an independent agent. One of our long-term customers was the contractor/art restoration company that restored all those murals. Here’s a link to that project if you’re interested… [NYGSS Resto](https://johncanningco.com/blog/sky-mural-restoration-at-grand-central-terminal/)

I have vague memories of this ceiling playing a big part in the novel Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin. It was made into a movie with Colin Farrell, Russel Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, and with a brilliant cameo by Will Smith. The book was a hit, but the movie was pretty roundly panned, though I remember I liked the movie a lot. Loved the book.

I used to walk through that place every single day. I forgot how much I miss that ceiling!
I bet it was much nicer in the past ❤️
Never been here, but I’ve played Spider-Man so it feels familiar.
