One of us loves this and one of us doesn’t. These were just painted and one day while one of us was out, the other one put this wax all over the cabinets to make them look old. One of us thinks it makes them look dirty.
There’s no nice way to put this… they definitely don’t look aged. They look like grease grime stains.

I don’t really care for this look. But I’m wondering what effect does having the wax on the cabinets have on keeping them clean. Does the wax make dirt/grease/grime stick more?

Not a fan. I think I’d be annoyed if someone did that to my fresh painted cabinets. Like if I’d wanted an old kitchen I wouldn’t have bothered painting…?

I’ll be very blunt and say it looks like one of those homes that a smoker has smoked in for 60 years. Or a deceased hoarders house that’s in the process of being fixed up. Or the houses in the early seasons of Call The Midwife.
To age paint, you’re meant to gently scuff it with sand paper, not apply wax to it!

Even 15 years ago when faux techniquing kitchens were all the rage this would’ve looked terrible.
Please tell your husband his coworkers are all lying (or just have really bad tacky taste). Paint them a lovely crisp, clean color.
