100% Chardonnay (Melon à Queue Rouge technically). Opened two hours beforehand. Michel Gahier worked with Puffeney before getting his own estate, I’ve always had great experiences with his cuvées and this one is one of my winter favorites. Very intense on the nose, with lactic touches and a briochey hint in the background. The wine is very intense with a great energy. The 2016 is a great vintage for Gahier’s wines, they have a great acidity here that keeps the wine insanely fresh despite the oxydative method used on it. The texture was very elegant, bringing up bitters and viscosity. Maybe a bit too rich in alcohol, you can feel the richness of the 13.5%, nothing too burning but the wine likes to be paired. A classic Jura natural wine, nothing funky, just a nice natural and intense cuvée.
