I…like it? The more I look at it though the more questions I have.

Like why is that conversation pit completely filled in? I assume the center-most cushion panel can be removed for legroom?

And although I get the wall detailing is supposed to fill in the space, why isn’t there more artwork on the walls? The space feels weirdly empty.

The rest of the house is like this too. Really cool, but also somehow weridly plain and sterile.

    “Honey spiderman is coming over.”

    “Is it cleaning day again?”

The conversation pit is perfectly positioned to be where all the cold air in the room is and I can’t imagine that wood stove is capable of heating that space with those out-of-sight ceilings. The space looks great though.

I’m not sure that little wood burner would be that effective in such a large space.

The green couch totally makes the perfect scene, while I’d prefer a plant at least it would clash w the brutalist look

What a long chimney pipe. Gosh. Look at the size of it!

  8. Dick_Demon

The edging of the conversation pit is *extremely* poorly routed out.

  9. This room gives me anxiety. How do you get out of that pit? The stairs look unsafe. The cold cement block walls feel like a prison. 😟

That room smells like curing concrete, and it always will forever

  11. CorbuGlasses

Don’t ever trip on the stairs

It’s also weird you have to step up onto the raised concrete area before going up the stairs. And is it just me or is the second stair riser wayy too tall? There’s also something weird with the second riser from the top.

It’s fuck fest ‘96 down there.

The echoes, the orgy bed, nice fire

  13. Fake_rock_climber

That second step is twice as tall as the rest.

I don’t think you know what room porn means. This looks terrible, unwelcoming, uncomfortable, and it’s a dumb design.

“Why doesn’t my music sound good in here?” Owner probably.

this room needs a loft. and art. maybe 2 lofts. also, more art.

  17. FrodoUnderhill

Klipsh bookshelf speakers on the floor. The best buy special. Awful.

Weird thought, but I’m really curious as to what that house smells like. It’s got to be that concrete smell right?

While this looks like it came out of my worst nightmare I *AM* a sucker for conversation pits…

You couldn’t sit in the pit, you would have to lay down. The stairs are really unsafe, and the only thing you could fall onto is concrete. The tiny wood stove is comical in that huge room. The concrete looks like a blind apprentice did it. It would be impossible to keep clean, and spiderweb would be inevitable, not that it looks very good clean anyway.

    This is awful.

Edit: the floors are wood, not concrete, sorry.
More things: the shelf is too high, you would be able to reach the first or maybe second shelf. Everything is too small for this room, and the barn-style doors are out-of-place.

  21. I would never … NEVER… live in a place like this.

  22. thenopeguy

It reflects the nature of the modern architect: pointless, bland and heartless. Just another brick…. how boring.

  23. SmirkTheLurk

That concrete walls looks terrible. Grind those form joints down and plaster over that eyesore.

  24. Loggiogx

It’s gorgeous, but they better light that fire place about 10 days before the cold weather arrives to heat that room up
