Bini produces wine on a small Italian island in, essentially, the middle of nowhere (Pantelleria is closer to Tunisia than Italy). This particular bottling of Moscatello is rare – less than 150 magnums are produced.

Whether it’s ‘worth it’ depends on the consumer/collector. Bini seems to have developed a cult following with some who love his wines and others who think they are overpriced. I tried his Fanino Rosso 2020 and loved its energy but haven’t tried others since. TLDR I’d rather spend the money on bottles from Pepe, Valentini, or even less money on Gravner and Radikon.

I’ve had two bottles Bini. One per year the past two years. Yes, it is expensive and probably more expensive than it needs to be for the quality, BUT it’s super unique and still a very good wine.

So for once a year to get my hands on a rare, unique, and great wine it’s not a horrible price point. I would buy precisely that: one per year. And since he doesn’t make much wine, that’s all that I have the opportunity to.

The importers have strategically marketed these wines to give them that cult status. Not bad wine, just way over priced and over hyped.

They are about 4 times the price of what they should be. And even at that price I wouldn’t buy them.
