Hey guys,
I wanted to ask if acoustic foam panels can become a mold risk in a basement office.
The room is in the basement of a German house built in 1997. Humidity is usually around 35–45%, and the temperature stays around 20–22 °C / 68–71.6 °F.
My plan was to mount the foam panels with cardboard behind them as a spacer layer and use industrial spray adhesive.
Does that sound like something that could trap moisture and cause mold over time, especially behind the panels? I’m mostly wondering if the cardboard layer is a bad idea in a basement room, even with relatively normal humidity.
Would love to hear from anyone who has done something similar or knows whether this is safe.
Thanks 🙂
