We recently laid down new floors in our living room and I’m trying to find some new furniture to put in the room. The floor is a little darker than any I’ve had before and I’m struggling with mixing wood tones.
I like this bookcase but I’m not sure if it’s too light and the contrast would he too jarring? I think the floor is also fairly warm and maybe the bookcase should be a warmer wood?
Thanks!

It’s a little hard to tell because the lighting in the pictures is different, but my gut says it would look good. Also, those floors are gorgeous!!
I think it would look good! It can be helpful to think not in terms of how dark/light but in terms of warmth. These both look fairly neutral in warmth from what I can tell so I think they would complement each other.
I think it depends on the other furniture more so than the floors. I think the floors would look fine with it, but if all of the furniture clashed it would look out of place. Natural lighter more organic style of furniture would flow nicely with this bookshelf + floors
Your floors are actually a very neutral brown! The “warmth” you’re feeling is just the depth of the color and that it’s a traditional tone often used in cozy spaces. A true warm wood stain would be something that has strong golden, orange or red undertones like varnished oak or Brazilian cherry. Your floors being neutral actually gives you a lot of options and that book case totally works because it is also on the neutral side. I personally feel like it’s best to stick with one or 2 wood tones within a room and mix in pieces that are painted or another material like stone or metal for variety that doesn’t look haphazard. So if you don’t foresee wanting to use a similar tone on any other pieces in the room, then maybe look elsewhere.
