Today when clearing out my grandmothers house, I came across this bottle of 1989 Cristal Brut Champagne in her basement. I am confident it is no longer good as it was stored upright on a shelf in her basement for the past few decades, but I am super thrilled about this find nonetheless!

I plan to save this as a keepsake and wanted to share this happy find 🙂

Awesome find and definitely keep it as a keepsake.

Fun find. Beautiful bottle and label. It’s too bad it didn’t last but still great to see

If the basement didn’t tend to get hot it may very well be good; vertical storage, especially for Champagne, does not automatically cause the cork to fail.

  4. I’d pop it in the fridge for 30 minutes and give it a try… even if its a goner you can still keep the bottle

I’ve had a good amount of old Cristal and can assure you by the color this bottle is completely cooked. I’d keep the bottle intact as a keepsake. I’m all for all wine and “pop it open, what’s the worst that can happen?” But this one is certainly cooked, so might as well keep the bottle intact as a nicer display than an empty bottle
