Tasted this at my favourite bottle-shop in Canberra this Saturday and had to pick up a bottle. (Shout out to the team at Plonk at Fyshwick Markets, they really know their stuff). This is the first wine from Tellurian I've tasted and if the rest are anything like this I'll be sure to check them out. Tellurian means "of the earth" and they're very proud of their Cambrian terroir. Heathcote is normally known as a Shiraz region – and much like my native Hunter Valley that means other Rhone varieties likely do well there and this is no exception.

This Marsanne opens with aFloral bouquet on the nose, honeysuckle, orange blossom and jasmine, heavier on the palate with bright but balanced citrus acidity and rockmelon (Cantaloupe) and pear notes coming through. The high alcohol content and a little bit of oak supply some texture.A really enjoyable easy drinker that stands up well to a richer meal – I had this with a chicken version of Duck a l'Orange and a leek risotto, enough acidity to cut through the creaminess of the risotto and not overpowered by the orange or sweetness in the sauce.
