A mature white Burgundy made from Chardonnay in Chablis. “Montée de Tonnerre” is one of the top Premier Cru sites, often compared stylistically to Grand Cru wines.

At this age (1998), it’s well into its tertiary phase, less about fresh fruit, more about complexity, texture, and savory depth.

Nose: Dried apple, baked lemon, honey, chamomile, with classic Chablis minerality (wet stone, oyster shell). Some nuttiness and light oxidative notes given age.

Palate: Medium-bodied, softer acidity than in youth but still present. Flavors of preserved citrus, almond, brioche, and a saline edge.

Finish: Long, mellow, slightly oxidative, with mineral persistence.

Will be a great pairing with Sunday Chicken Roast later on 😋
