I just saw another post about open concept bathrooms, I didn’t realize they were so controversial! We built this 250sft addition onto our master bedroom last year. Sliding double doors to the bedroom and converted the old master into a master closet.

There’s a half wall that the toilet sits behind and yes we have a picture window outside but we have 1/2 an acre out back with a 8’ privacy fence. We also added a 10×20 concrete patio as part of the foundation.

We love it but curious what others thoughts are. We designed the space ourselves and worked with a GC. It was pretty straight forward and we designed the placement based on existing plumbing from the old bathroom that was on the wall behind the shower. It was an exterior wall so built from scratch laying foundation, it was a true addition that required roof repitching and air duct work. We live in the south but did add heated floors. $150,000k all in.

  1. I like the color and tiles, but I hate the transparent windows. Frosting them would be so much more functional.

Why is everyone so proud of their open concept bathrooms but so unwilling to show us where the open concept magic really happens? HOW DO YOU HAVE SHAME ABOUT THE TOILET YOU WON’T EVEN HIDE FROM YOUR OWN BED?
