Should I be concerned about the full level of the wine on the right? My understanding is that there’s some bottle variation that’s expected with Chateau Musar but I thought that was only taste and not something like fill level. I grabbed the 2018 because it was the last one but they had more of the 2021 Hochar that I could probably go trade it in for.

I wanted to grab a couple bottles given the recent bombings of Beqaa and Beirut just in case I don’t get a chance to try wine from this historic region in the future :/

Will be laying down the 2017 Gaston Hochar for at least another 5-6 yrs btw.

It’s a smaller bottle that could be ever so wider… it’s still well up the neck… even if you’re missing a half oz, is that really worth the trouble?

I wouldn’t be concerned. The bottles are obviously two different shapes (look at the shoulders), so it’s likely that the main body cavity is a different volume, meaning that the full fill level would be a different points on the neck.
