Rug or no rug?

Living area of new house is one big room. I don't have a picture of the kitchen, but it's behind the dining area with a counter height bar that faces the table.

Rug or no rug under the dining table? If rug, do I match the living room rug? I could get the exact same one, but it would be pretty expensive and hard to clean (wool).

Any other design tips appreciated for completing this space. The sofas will have wood legs, and I've ordered another sectional piece so that the sofa will extend closer to the door (last picture shows approx where it will end).

I'm not married to the curtains…I just hastily threw them up to have some privacy. They are linen and a bit lighter colored in person.

Also, the IKEA dining chairs are staying. We have them in our current house and it's my spouse's one request because those suckers are so comfy.
